OnePlus 11 Review – An S23 Ultra for half the price

The year started just a few months ago, but we have one of the best cell phones of 2023 in our hands. Can the design, let’s say, be different, interfere with the purchase of this device, which is certainly one of the most powerful on the market? Look, with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 16 GB of RAM memory, it’s hard not to shine your eyes with what the OnePlus 11 has to offer us. In addition, the cell phone has cameras from Hasselblad, which indicates an extremely strong side for those looking for photos at a level above the rest.

OnePlus 11 – Review

In short for you:

  • Design in Construction: When you look at the OnePlus 11, it may look ugly, strange, it looks like a cooktop, it looks like a washing machine, in short, it can look like many things. But this strangeness soon became something normal. The device has the famous silent switch on the side – present in iPhones.
  • fantastic fabric: The 6.7″ LTPO3 AMOLED display has rounded edges on the sides, giving that feeling of infinite edges. It has extreme quality with Quad HD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate – in addition to Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
  • Flawless photos: OnePlus 11’s cameras motivated me to try camera modes including PRO mode. The quality is well above average and this needs to be highlighted. Real quality cameras.
  • Performance to spare: As expected, the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is absurd, placing the OnePlus 11 among the best phones in the world. But there are important caveats, and we’ll get to those next.
  • Battery OK: The battery fulfills its role very well, easily passing the tests that we carry out here, but among devices with 5,000 mAh, the autonomy of the OnePlus 11 might be better!

Design and Construction

Belo smartphone

Its design is very clean, with the exception of the camera set that draws the most attention and is even considered ugly by some (in its predecessor, the OnePlus 10, the camera set was accommodated by a rectangular piece). But I say you get used to it, see? When handling the device, the back acorn is forgotten and you start using the advantages that this device offers – which are the cameras.

The OnePlus 11 also has a side switch to switch between silent, vibrate or ring modes. Like iPhone, you know? This is a feature that I wish existed on every cell phone on the planet – although my cell phone is always on “Do Not Disturb” mode anyway.

There is no headphone jack, nor are headphones included in the box. But charger has. And what a charger (100W).

Bodies

The screen is another highlight of the OnePlus 11. With 6.7 inches, QuadHD resolution and support for 120Hz refresh rate, 1300 nits (peak), Dolby Vision and HDR 10 Plus, you can enjoy an amazing viewing experience no matter what you are watching or playing. The display has LTPO3 AMOLED technology, which allows for less energy consumption and higher refresh rates.

A differential of this device, without a doubt, is the curved display on the sides, giving that sophisticated touch and infinite screen feeling. But you need to be careful because this model does not come with a protective cover. On the Chinese website you will find some options.

Performance

As for performance, as expected, the OnePlus 11 uses all its power to slide between all the games currently available, from casual to the heaviest. This is all thanks to the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the remarkable presence of 16 GB of RAM. It also has 256 GB of internal storage.

We analyzed the performance of the OnePlus 11 in heavy games on Roda Liso and guess what seal it received? But there are caveats, see? The device, inexplicably, did not get the competitive seal in some games and did not release more than 60fps in games that this processor should shine. Check out the complete Roda Liso to understand this situation.

single core suffered

Another situation that showed that the same mobile processor – currently considered the best on the planet – can have different performances according to the optimizations of each brand, was that in Speedtest, another sequence of tests that we carry out here, more specifically in Geekbench 5, OnePlus performed well below when benchmarking worked specifically on one of the processor’s eight cores. Because of this, the OnePlus 11 was not even close to its competitor Galaxy S23 Ultra.

That is, the OnePlus 11 is powerful, runs everything with ease and you certainly won’t have headaches regarding it for many years, but it is clear that somehow, the brand does not release the full potential that the hardware has for your users – something that might change upon update perhaps?

Battery

The OnePlus 11’s 5,000 mAh battery can handle a day full of social media, camera use, web browsing and, of course, a little fun gaming time.

The OnePlus 11 passed our rigorous battery test and endured the 7:45 hours of testing, as well as the 15 hours of standby time to complete it all while consuming a total of 90% battery. Not the best result for devices with this capability, but still a solid performer. Charging from 0-100 took a whopping 34 minutes.

cameras

Now, let’s talk regarding the OnePlus 11 cameras. The main set has a 50 MP sensor, f/1.8, 24mm, another 32 MP, f/2.0, 48mm (telephoto) and a 48 MP sensor, f/2.2 , 115˚, (ultrawide) – you don’t see sensors of that size for ultrawide shots. With this set you can capture amazing photos in any situation.

Literally every sensor, you find the same quality of colors, contrasts and everything in between. So much so that the system automatically recognizes when you approach an object and switches to macro mode. In both colors are preserved. The primary photos for this review took place on a gray day, therefore, without strong incidence of sun, but light indeed.

A deserved highlight goes to the 2x telephoto camera of the OnePlus 11, whose quality is at the same level as the others, offering a great alternative for its users. And in contrast to all this, in environments with less light, the OnePlus 11 offers you good, but not extraordinary photos, like those of the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

In addition, the 16 MP, f/2.4, 25mm (wide) front camera is excellent for sharp, clear selfies, great contrast and color preservation. Portrait Mode makes good cuts for a blurred background and at night, with indirect light, the sharpness of selfies is impressive.

This is a solid set of cameras, as you already imagined at the beginning of this review! Very positive point.

Price and competitors

What we have here, then, is a high-end cell phone, equipped with one of the best hardware components in the world, not only for performance, but also for battery life and cameras. All this strength is reflected in the activities and tests that we carry out at Oficina da Net, making the OnePlus 11 one of the best smartphones of 2023, without a doubt.

It can be found on the internet for values between R$ 3,680 to R$ 3,899. Elevated to the standard of Brazil, but if you compare it with its great competitor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, you will see that the OnePlus 11 costs just half of an S23 Ultra.

I would say that the OnePlus 11 has shortcomings compared to its competitor, but half the price justifies any difference in performance. What do you think?

It is worth it?

In short, the OnePlus 11 is a top-notch phone that doesn’t disappoint in any way – I mean, it does if you want Mortal Kombat and Tower of Fantasy with more than 60fps. If you’re looking for a phone that offers incredible performance, a quality display, amazing cameras, and long-lasting battery life, then this is it. a Galaxy S23 Ultra, only for half the pricethe OnePlus 11 is perfect for you!

Of course, for this it is necessary to buy the device outside Brazil and still deal with a possible import tax.
