OnePlus 10T: the return of the “flagship-killer”

Just five months following introducing its new flagship, the OnePlus 10 Pro, the Chinese brand OnePlus is back on the attack, this time with a “flagship-killer”.

Just five months ago, the new OnePlus 10 Pro, the ultra-high end of the OnePlus brand, was released. For the first time since its debut, the brand had decided not to market a “classic” model in parallel. And we now understand better why since only five months later, the new OnePlus 10T is already arriving, which takes almost identically the design of the 10 Pro and some of its specificities but this time is positioned lower in the range, with an entry price of €699 – 200 less than the 10 Pro.

The smartphone is available in two colors.

At 699€, the 10T is positioned as a “flagship-killer”, a term which designates, in the jargon, a high-performance device sold at a very competitive price and capable of competing with smartphones sold several hundred euros more expensive. And more than ever, the 10T deserves this title. Because casually, at €699, this is a hell of a good deal.

A lot of things are changing in terms of the technical sheet. At the level of the screen first of all, we go from a screen of 6.5″ to 6.7″, still 120 Hz and AMOLED, compared to the OnePlus 9. A screen size identical to that of the 10 Pro. Only one thing sets them apart at this level: the resolution, higher on the 10 Pro.

On the performance side, the device is also entitled to a substantial gain since we switch to a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, the new Rolls Royce of semiconductors. The 10T performs as well as a 1300€ device. On the other hand, it will be necessary to be satisfied with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage by default, which remains very reasonable and aligned there also with what we find in the competition.

The real revolution this year, we find it at the level of the load. OnePlus gives us the most powerful charger on the market, a Supervooc charger – made by Oppo -, which displays a record speed of 150W, once morest 65W for the OnePlus 9. The smartphone charges from 1 to 100% in 19 minutes flat, all without heating.

If the characteristic “slider” of OnePlus smartphones disappears, this has allowed the manufacturer to improve the quality of connectivity. There are a total of 15 antennas. Regardless of the orientation of the smartphone, you will be able to pick up a signal, whether it is Wifi or 5G.

The small disappointment, however, concerns the photo. OnePlus abandons the dual 50-megapixel sensors of the 9 for a main 50-megapixel sensor, which is this time supported by a 16-megapixel sensor. On the software side, the manufacturer has come a long way. The result is generally very satisfactory, but there is a slight downgrade compared to the 10 Pro, and, for wide shots, also compared to the 9. Rest assured, for the price, the rendering remains very correct. But in terms of photos, the 10T does not compete with models at 800€ and more. At the front, there is also a 16-megapixel camera, slightly less efficient than the 32-megapixel one that fitted the 10 Pro.

The Jade Green model is likely to make you fall for it.

If there is therefore a small disappointment in terms of photography, the report remains generally very positive. At €699, the OnePlus 10T is an excellent deal. It has nothing to envy to the standard bearers of Samsung and Apple. OnePlus has evolved its flagship-killer so much that it now seems almost more interesting than its ultra-premium model. The new design of the smartphone also has something to please a very wide audience, with a style that continues to assert itself, an irreproachable finish, and very attractive colors. OnePlus does not hesitate to also play on the service with four years of guaranteed follow-up, the promise of three major Android updates and an ever-so-minimalist overlay that continues to improve. OxygenOS is very convincing, perhaps the most accomplished Android overlay. With so many assets in its pocket, it’s hard not to crack, especially since unlike competing smartphones, the 10T is always delivered with its charger and cable…

The +:

  • A very successful design
  • La charge 150W
  • The 3 promised Android updates
  • An impeccable screen
  • Strong performance
  • An ultra-competitive price (699€)

The – :

  • The photo part, which is a bit disappointing
  • The disappearance of the Slider

So, do we crack?

At 699€, the OnePlus 10T has nothing to envy to models sold beyond 1000€. OnePlus’ smartphone has a solid technical sheet with one of the most beautiful screens on the market, the ultimate in processor, plenty of memory and impeccable connectivity. Only the photo part disappoints (a little) – the overall rendering remains very convincing for the average person. Difficult therefore not to crack, given the excellent quality / price ratio. Especially since the small advantages are numerous. The 10T is equipped with the fastest charger on the market – capable of fully recharging its battery in less than 19 minutes flat. OnePlus is also now promising 3 major OS updates and has nicely improved the connectivity of the device.
