When asked whether the Ministry of Leisure has played a role in the judicial process of the suspect, Assemblyman Cho answered, “We are looking into whether the Seoul Transportation Corporation has notified us.” “The reason why the Ministry of Leisure was abolished That’s exactly what it is.” He pointed out, “I didn’t know until another agency notified me, and when something like this happened, I was supposed to take proactive steps, but I didn’t.”

Rep. Yong Hye-in said, “In order to prevent crime, it is essential to change the structural cause.

Rep. Han Jun-ho of the Democratic Party said, “Even though there are a lot of measures to protect women from sexual violence among the proposals proposed today, I think that the internal organizational discipline has been a little lax following the controversy over the abolition of the Ministry of Leisure and Leisure.”

Rep. Kim Mi-ae, a member of the People’s Power, emphasized cooperation with relevant ministries in response to sexual violence and stalking crimes and said, “I know that the leisure department cannot do this alone.

See it as something that should be considered with the police, prosecutors, and courts, and take a look at the support system for protecting victims of dating violence and stalking.”

At the leisure committee meeting that day, a bill on the protection and support of victims of stalking was also proposed.

The bill designated the department in charge of protecting victims of stalking crimes as the Ministry of Leisure, and stipulated procedures for support such as employment, legal counseling, housing, medical care, and livelihood stability, as well as the police’s measures to protect victims.

Representative Chung Choon-sook, who proposed the bill, said, “A comprehensive system for preventing stalking crime and supporting victim protection, such as installation and operation of facilities to support stalking victims, prevention of secondary damage in the investigation and trial process, investigation of the actual situation of stalking crimes and implementation of prevention education, will be prepared. We need to come up with a legal basis as soon as possible so that we can do this,” he said.

At the meeting, the opposition’s criticism of the government’s abolition of the leisure department was also rekindled.

Democratic Party lawmaker Yoo Jeong-ju said, “Today, the Ministry of Leisure is not actually abolished, but everyone here is talking regarding functional enhancement.

There is no such thing as a black comedy,” he said.
