WhatsApp officially announces the edition of sent messages. One of the most anticipated and requested functions by all users finally arrives on the platform, and it is Mark Zuckerberg himself, CEO of Meta, who has made the official revelation in his Facebook page.

WhatsApp users will be able to edit messages up to 15 minutes after they are sent. The ability to edit messages is to give users more control over their chats, WhatsApp says, in situations when you make a mistake, change your mind, or simply want to add more context to messages.

When a message is edited, the legend will be displayed “Edited” at the bottom of the speech bubble, so recipients know there’s been a correction, but they won’t see the message’s change history. End-to-end encryption is still present, adds WhatsApp.

How to edit messages on WhatsApp

Editing a message in WhatsApp is very simple, you only have to follow a couple of steps:

• Press and hold the message you want to edit
• On iOS, a popup menu will appear and there will be the new “Edit” option
• On Android, the “Edit” option will appear inside the three-dot menu in the upper right corner
• A window will appear to edit the message, either delete or add text
