Yofren Javier Guedez, alias ‘Mayeya‘, one of the leaders of the Aragua Train in Colombia, was sentenced to 26 years in prison for the crimes of aggravated homicide, torture, concealment, and alteration or destruction of evidence, reported this Sunday the Colombian prosecutor’s office.
The organization detailed in a statement that alias ‘Mayeya’ accepted, in a preliminary agreement, his responsibility for the crimes for which he was convicted and for which he must serve the prison sentence, reported EFE.
The Aragua Train has spread through several Latin American countries and is pointed out by the Bogotá authorities as one of those responsible for the increase in violence in the city, mainly with robberies, extortion of merchants and homicides.
The Prosecutor’s Office investigation determined that the member of the Tren de Aragua participated in the murder of four people in a bar in Bogotá on September 4, an event in which the victims were dismembered and the bodies were found in 15 plastic bags.
«Analysis of videos from security cameras, testimonies and other evidence showed that this Venezuelan citizen was also involved in intimidating merchants and sex workers.» in the southwest of the city, the information added.
Last Thursday, the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, considered the capture of two other of its members as a hard blow to the Aragua Train, one in Colombia and the other in the United States, thanks to the collaboration with authorities in that country.
