Saudi TV director Abdullah Bagsir passed away yesterday evening, following falling ill in Cairo.
His daughter, Orbit, announced the news of the death through her account on the “Facebook” website, and wrote: “Believing in God’s decree and destiny, my father and the light of my life, Abdullah Ahmed Bagsir, mourn. We belong to God and to Him we shall return. Bliss, and your remembrance will be pleasant until I meet you, God willing, on opposite couches.”
She added, “The funeral of the late, God willing, will be held at Al-Salam Mosque in Dream Land, Gate No. 3, the NC area, next to the Egypt Pharmacy.”
Among the most famous works directed by the late Bagsir, who was a member of the Saudi Arab Society for Culture and Arts, are Omar Al-Khatib’s “Information Bank” programs, “Under the Lights”, “Stars on Air”, “The Convoy of Wildlife” and many television theater concerts.
Director Bagsir is considered one of the founders of the television theater in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with director Bashir Mardini, Tariq Riri, Abdelaziz Abu Al-Naga, Saad Al-Fraih and Hassan Dardir.
The late was preparing to produce a series dealing with the life story of Riad Al-Sunbati and his artistic journey with the late Umm Kulthum, as his close friend Zain Amin said.
