Daniel Christoffersen (59 years old) three decades ago stopped having a car for environmental reasons, but less than a month ago he returned to being behind the wheel: he is the owner of Tito, “the first nationally manufactured electric car that circulates on the streets Mar del Plata”.
“I am 59 years old and I have not had a car for 30 years due to environmental issues, due to pollution, and I preferred to use public transport. I care regarding the subject, but I am not a militant and this option was interesting for me to have a car once more, “he explained to LA CAPITAL.
So it was that, two years ago, thanks to a journalistic interview, he found out regarding the existence of Coradirthe company that manufactures electric vehicles in San Luis.
“I began to internalize myself -he said-, to follow them, I contacted myself and I signed up for the pre-sale. And I’ve had it for fifteen days.”
With a drawn smile, the man assured that he was “very happy with the performance of the car. It is silent, although inside it sounds like a buzzing noise, and it has capacity for 4 people, although you can also fold the back seat down and use it to load things.”

There are two more factories in the country that build this type of vehicle -located in Buenos Aires and Córdoba- but Daniel opted for the one of San Luis origin because “I liked it better, since it has capacity for 4 people and the others were only for two”.
The vehicle is charged with electricity. “The car has a charger that plugs into any home outlet, like a cell phone, and it takes regarding 7 hours to fully charge. But they recommend that you do partial charges, that you don’t let it discharge completely, ”he described.
Tito’s autonomy reaches 100 kilometers and the maximum speed it develops reaches 65 km/h, although it is only authorized to circulate “around the city, it is not yet approved to go out on the road”.
Afterwards, all other legal issues are the same as for a gas vehicle. “It has a patent and insurance, everything else is like any car,” he added.
The use that Daniel gives to the electric vehicle is “daily, to get around, I don’t need it for work” and explained that “there are 36 in the entire country, this is the first to arrive in Mar de Plata, and the company has committed for the technical service to work in each city where there is one”.
In Mar del Plata, the service is in charge of the agency located on Juan B. Justo avenue between Catamarca and La Rioja and “it works great. The first days I had a problem with the charger, I contacted them and they solved it right away”. Soon there will also be a point of sale.
