The car manufacturer Nio, known for its car with more than 1000 km of autonomy, is launching into a new market that we know well: the smartphone.

We’ve been following Nio’s adventures for several years now. This young Chinese brand has already positioned itself as a major competitor to Tesla thanks to its electric car which promises 1000 km of autonomy.

Today, the brand is exploring a new market, that of the smartphone, with a Nio Phone full of promise.

A new Chinese flagship

The Nio Phone includes everything we expect from a high-end smartphone in 2023. The brand is thus announcing a chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with up to 16 Go to RAM et 1 To storage. The Amoled screen manufactured by Samsung has a diagonal of 6.81 inches with a “2K” definition and a refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz.

The promise of very high autonomy should once once more be there thanks to a 5200 mAh battery and fast charging of 66W wired or 50W by induction.

Nio makes an interesting choice regarding its photo module by betting on three devices, all equipped with a 50 megapixel sensor. According to the brand, each device is the main camera of the smartphone.

23mm wide angle: IMX707, 1/1.28 with optical stabilization ultra wide angle 15mm: IMX766, 1/1.56 telephoto lens 65mm: IMX890, 1/1.56 with optical stabilization

The manufacturer has also planned its own SkyUI interface which should notably offer synergy with the brand’s vehicles. For example the possibility of unlocking your Nio vehicle, even 48 hours following the battery has gone out.

A high price

No question of making Xiaomi, the Nio Phone is not a smartphone low cost, and wants to play in the big leagues. The brand announces a starting price of 6,499 yuan, or 837 euros excluding tax for the 512 GB model and 12 GB of RAM. It is a price that can be considered aggressive compared to the best in the sector, but without necessarily entering into the low cost.
