The director of the Public TV Juan Parodi He resigned from his position this Friday following a month at the head of the state channel. He had assumed the position last February and will officially leave it on March 27.

The decision was communicated during the day, following a meeting with the Press Secretary of the Nation, Eduardo Serenellini, in which Héctor Cavallero, director of Radio Nacional, also participated.

Parodi resigned when he was promoting changes in the channel’s programming. Among other products, the official had taken the midnight, morning and weekend newscasts off the air.

In addition, the traditional program Cocineros Argentinos was canceled, which will be broadcast for the last time on March 31.

Given these modifications, the channel’s management argues budgetary issues and hopes to make more changes regarding the state TV signal.

Parodi lasted a month in charge of the channel

Parodi had been appointed last February and took over to replace Claudio Martínez, who was in charge of the channel until December 2023.

When he took the responsibility of taking charge of the state channel, he promised “a quality screen” and sought budget to relaunch programming.

The Government’s position regarding public media was expressed by President Javier Milei on several occasions.

In one of them, he made reference to the fact that Public TV became a “propaganda mechanism” and that it did not adhere to the practice of supporting the structure of “a propaganda ministry.”
