The economic pressure is leaving its mark on the labor market: 45 percent of employees worldwide believe that their workload has increased in the past twelve months. In Austria, 42 percent say that the increasing demands are bothering them and 34 percent say that their daily tasks have changed. These are the key findings of a survey by the consulting firm PwC on the topic of labor market developments: 56,000 employees in 50 countries were surveyed, 1,000 in Austria.
63 percent of Austrians are satisfied with their jobs, for example due to fair pay, job fulfillment and flexibility. The pressure to perform is driving up the demand for higher salaries: 37 percent want to negotiate in the next twelve months. 27 percent are willing to change their job. That is more employees than during the big wave of layoffs in 2022.
“Managers have to pay attention to talent. This includes offering development opportunities and responding to requests – on the one hand to make them fit for technological change, and on the other hand to retain talent,” says PwC expert Johanna Schaller. The willingness to undergo further training is twice as high among those who want to change jobs.
