One person lost their life and several others were seriously injured in a violent collision that occurred Wednesday morning in Saguenay.
“We have one person who died, three people taken to the hospital for serious injuries, we even fear for their lives, and another person was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries,” confirmed Andréanne. Nolin, spokesperson for the Saguenay police, to TVA Nouvelles.
The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of boulevard Saint-Jean-Baptiste and rang Sainte-Famille.
“A vehicle was reportedly stopped at the intersection, then there was a collision with another vehicle and then with a tanker truck,” the spokeswoman explained.
A person involved in the accident, who was not injured, said a pickup truck with a trailer attached lost control, causing the collision.
It is not known whether the deceased person is a man or a woman.
Accident scene investigators from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) must go to the scene to support the investigators of the Saguenay Police Service and try to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the event.
Boulevard Saint-Jean Baptiste will be closed between boulevard de l’Université and rang Sainte-Famille for part of the day.
