One dead and one injured in collision at Farnham

A violent frontal collision left one dead and one injured in Farnham, in the Eastern Townships, on the night of Sunday to Monday.

The accident occurred around midnight on Route 104 near Chemin Bricault, when the victim, who was driving at high speed, collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

It was necessary to resort to the jaws of life to extricate the driver from his vehicle. The man, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The other driver who was alone on board, a woman in her fifties, suffered serious injuries including fractures to the lower limbs, but there is no fear for her life.

SQ investigators and reconstructionists were dispatched to the scene to try to establish the exact causes and circumstances of this fatal collision.

Route 104 was closed to traffic to allow collision scene investigators to carry out their work.
