A gust of wind caused the stage to come loose.
The partial collapse of a temporary stage due to strong winds at an open-air music festival in eastern Spain on Saturday left one dead and at least 40 injured, regional authorities said.
Emergency services in the Valencia region said a “strong gust of wind” brought down part of the stage structure at the Medusa Festival around 4am local time.
Some 40 people were transported to hospitals, three of them with serious injuries.
Festival organizers said in a statement that they ordered the festival grounds to be evacuated as the wind intensified.
The president of the Valencian region, Ximo Puig, deplored the “terrible accident (which) has shocked us all” in a tweet.
A tragedy took place this Saturday during the Cullera Medusa Festival, in the Spanish city of Valencia, following a wind and sand storm collapsed several structures and parts of the stage on the attendees.
The activity was temporarily suspended. The Festival, which expected to gather some 320,000 people until Sunday, began this Friday with its official electronic music program.
