After more than two months of stoppage, air traffic in Morocco has resumed and is even on the rise. The recovery rate during the month of February reached 72% compared to the same period in 2019.
Air traffic in the Kingdom experienced a dynamic growth of at least 660,045 passengers through 5,714 air flights (international arrivals and departures).
The details
The first airport platform in the Kingdom, Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport, received 50% of the volume of global air traffic, i.e. 328,627 passengers, with 2,724 international flights (arrival and departure).
This increase in traffic has allowed a recovery rate compared to the same period of 2019, of 72% for passengers and 74% for airport movements.
Europe absorbs 64% of international air traffic, followed by the Middle East and Africa markets with 13% each, and North America with 6%.
An important device
For the resumption of air traffic, the National Airports Office (ONDA) has set up an important system including two tents of 1,500 m² installed and equipped to allow health personnel to carry out antigenic tests and PCR.
As well as a strengthening of the airport operating teams, by guidance agents whose mission is to assist, guide, inform passengers and help them. These measures have reduced the processing time for passengers from disembarking to leaving the airport.
