Constitutional Judge Arief Hidayat once more reprimanded representatives of the General Election Commission (KPU) during the 2024 General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) hearing at the Constitutional Court (MK) Building, Jakarta, Friday (3/5). This time, it was the turn of the Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) KPU representative to be reprimanded for being late to the hearing.

Arief Hidayat opened the session in panel 3 for the dispute over the 2024 Legislative Election for the electoral district of Central Sulawesi Province at 13.30 WIB. When the trial had been going on for regarding 30 minutes, there was a notification from the clerk that representatives of the Central Sulawesi KPU asked permission to enter the court room.

“That’s an officer, he said the Central Sulawesi KPU wanted to come in. Don’t be late next time,” said Arief.

When representatives of the Central Sulawesi KPU entered, Arief reprimanded them once more because they were sitting in the wrong place. Arief reiterated that the parties to the dispute should not be late in attending.

“Next time, don’t be late. That’s in Konoha. If you’re late, you’ll be shot dead,” joked Arief.

The day before, Arief Hidayat reprimanded the KPU because not a single representative from the RI KPU and the provincial KPU in dispute was present at the hearing. Arief assessed that the KPU was not serious in responding to election results disputes submitted by the parties.

In fact, according to Arief, this lack of seriousness has been visible since the handling of the dispute over the results of the presidential election some time ago. (Z-2)
