Newton arrived at his specific date of the end of the world through a close study of the Bible and other religious texts, predicting that the present world system on earth would be replaced by a “kingdom of heaven”.
They believed that Jesus would return in the middle of the 21st century and reign for a thousand years, during which time Jews would establish “a flourishing and eternal kingdom” in Israel.
