“You don’t have to be old to come to art house cinema”
Germain, the projectionist at the L’Apollo cinema, is co-organizing this rather special event in his cinema to encourage all audiences to pass through the doors of this art house. “We try to diversify the audience a little, to bring in an audience that is not necessarily accustomed to arthouse cinema. The audience we have, yes, is mostly adults, even a little older. But the arthouse cinema, It’s not a question of age. We have very young people, notably the audiovisual section of the Pierre and Marie Curie high school, where we have a few students who we see from time to time anyway. And you don’t have to be old to come and see arthouse cinemas.”
A convivial moment
And you don’t have to be a child to play video games either, at least not this Friday evening at the L’Apollo cinema. Robin Téral, responsible for audiences aged 11-30, encourages everyone to come and discover this funny format. “Now, we have a lot more perspective on what video games and screens are. And there really is this notion that to support your child in what he does, you have to play with him, you have to find out what exactly he does and understand it. For video games, there is no other choice, you have to get started. So I think there are a lot of parents who discovered video games thanks to their children, just as there are a lot of parents who discovered video games as children too. We don’t refuse anyone. It is open to everyone from 12 years old. It’s a moment that we want to be convivial.“
There are still places left to come and play at L’Apollo, from 6:30 p.m. “We have planned 60 places for the tournament, warns Germain, the projectionist. I think we can go up to 64, but we won’t go beyond that because otherwise, we will finish the tournament at 1 a.m..
