ON VIDEO | A suspect steals a police car and jumps out of it while driving at full speed

A driver who provoked a police chase by stealing a patrol car in California died following jumping from the speeding vehicle on Tuesday.

The chase which began shortly before 11.40am in the Newhall area was caught on camera by several cameras and witnesses to the incident.

Officers stopped the man following calls regarding an individual driving dangerously.

And obviously, despite the intervention of the police, the man had no intention of stopping, reports CBS News.

Rolling at full speed, it is a carpet with nails placed on the roadway which will slow down its course. With a flat rear tire and partially losing control of the patrol car, the individual chose to jump out of the speeding vehicle.

The man suffered very serious injuries.

Despite police resuscitation attempts, he was pronounced dead in hospital.

The patrol car ended its run without a driver in a power pole before coming to a stop in the grass at the edge of the freeway.

Officers have not released the identity of the suspect.
