Tomorrow, Thursday, October 2, the C-130 transport aircraft of the Greek Air Force will depart for the operation to evacuate Cypriot citizens from Lebanon.

This follows yesterday’s telephone conversation between the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias and his counterpart of the Republic of Cyprus, Vassilis Palmas.

According to information, it is estimated that in addition to 46 Cypriots, 22 Greeks who have expressed interest will leave Lebanon.

It is also noted that an order has been given by the competent leadership to make available Surface Units of the Navy, including Surface Units capable of transporting civilians.

In today’s meeting at the Ministry of Defense, the issue of the implementation of operational plans to assist in the release of Greek citizens from the wider region was examined by any available means, if this becomes necessary.
