Artists and critics reveal the scenes of their participation in the documentary “Osama Anwar Okasha”
The documentary “Osama Anwar Okasha” revealed many of the secrets of the late Egyptian writer, who enriched the TV drama library with many public works with the participation of the most prominent pioneers in the field of directing in Egypt.
The film, which came in two parts, began with acting scenes of a young child who loves reading, hid away from people, and preferred to stay among books to enjoy reading them following being affected by the loss of his mother at an early age.
His works carried realistic personalities, according to the film’s guests, which included a group of art stars, including Elham Shaheen, Lucy, Sabreen, Abdel Aziz Makhyoun, directors Gamal Abdel Hamid, Raouf Abdel Aziz, and broadcaster Nisreen Osama Anwar Okasha, along with some writers and critics. Among them, Abdullah Al-Senawi, Sayed Mahmoud, Magda Morris, and screenwriter Magdy Saber.
The film raised many questions regarding identity, and the extent to which Akasha was influenced by the “Nobel” writer, Naguib Mahfouz, in addition to his battles with the “guillotine of the sergeant”. In shedding light on the political and social life in Egypt.

Morris confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat that Akasha had entered into conflicts with censorship because of some of his work and “manifestly circumvented that by presenting the episode to television on the night of the show so that it would not face objections, in agreement with those in charge of the matter at the time.” She explained that the reason behind his lack of cinematic work compared to television is “his eagerness to reach the largest number of people in their homes easily and easily.”
And the Egyptian artist, Abdel Aziz Makhyoun, attributed his participation in the documentary film, that it was the result of his presence in most of the works of the late writer, and he told Asharq Al-Awsat: “It appeared in many of his works, such as (The Gates of the City), (Nights of Helmia), and (Zizenia). ), and (witness and tears).

And Makhyoun recalls, “While dealing with Akasha, I felt from the first moment that his writings express me and what is inside me, and his thought resembles mine.” He continued: “Akasha was concerned regarding the different classes of society, and this was evident on the screen.”
Broadcaster Nisreen Osama Anwar Okasha, the daughter of the late writer, said that the idea of the film had been in the works for 3 years: “We started talking regarding his practical and private life and writing down the information correctly, and despite the film’s disruption a lot, those in charge of it assured me that it would come to light.”

Nisreen indicated that the film honorably expressed her father’s journey, and that she was aspiring to share with a number of his old companions from the late creators, such as directors Atef Al-Tayeb, Fakhr El-Din Salah, and artists Shawqi Shamekh, Sayed Azmy, and Sayed Abdel-Karim.
Nisreen noted that director Raouf Abdel Aziz was among those who clung to her father’s writings and intellectual heritage during his life and following his departure, by presenting the film “The Green Gate” beautifully, and the writer’s daughter thanked all those in charge of this valuable work, directed and prepared, and all its employees.
