Evgenia Prokopenko has abandoned the semblance of life as Miss Ukraine and joined the ranks of Ukrainian fighters in the war once morest Russia.
Evgenia, 35, went 6 months ago to the trenches as a paramedic to help the Ukrainian forces, and the scenes of the murder of her friends changed the life of Miss Ukraine in 2012 radically.
Evgenia, who also runs a law firm, said: She and her fellow troops recently liberated the town of Izyum from Russian occupation, according to the newspaper, “Daily Star”.
She added, “Before the war, I had my own business. My uniform was a work dress with heels.”
“But in war, I wear coarse military uniforms and hats..Here at the front, I am a paramedic..I evacuate the wounded from the combat zones..I carry out first aid.”
And she continued, “If someone had told me 6 months ago that I would be in the army and sleep in trenches, I would not have believed it.” Despite this transformation in her life, she still keeps a bag of makeup and perfume wherever she goes inside her military bag.
