On the eve of the Saudi Super Cup final.. Statements of Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal coaches and broadcasting channels

The match is scheduled to start at 19:15 local time.

The two teams are led by two veteran Portuguese coaches: Luis Castro (62 years old), technical director of Al-Nassr Club, and Jorge Jesus (70 years old), technical director of Al-Hilal Club.

The two coaches made exciting statements on the eve of their clash face to face in the Saudi Super Cup final.

Luis Castro said in his statements at the press conference dedicated to the match: “A difficult match awaits us tomorrow. Both teams have distinguished players, and I hope that the match will honor Saudi football.”

He added: “It is known that as a coach, I do not talk much about refereeing. What matters to me is that my team plays a good match and wins.”

Al-Nassr team received a severe blow when its Croatian star, Masilo Brozovic, was sent off in stoppage time of its match against Al-Taawoun (2-0) in the semi-finals of the competition.

The Saudi newspaper, Al-Riyadh, confirmed that Al-Nassr Club submitted a protest to the Disciplinary Committee of the Saudi Football Federation, regarding the expulsion that Brozovic was subjected to.

The newspaper explained that Al-Nasr management believes that the player did not deserve to be sent off by the match referee during the match, as the management cited a video clip explaining the entire situation to the Disciplinary Committee in order to cancel the expulsion before the final match that the team will play against Al-Hilal.

The administration reviewed in the video clip many similar cases that occurred in leagues around the world, in addition to some footage from the video technology that was shown to the match referee, in order to clarify the player’s position to the Disciplinary Committee.

Luis Castro continued: “Everyone knows the value of Al Hilal. We played against them in two finals, won the Arab Championship and lost the second on penalties.”

Castro added: “I always look at Al Hilal as a strong competitor, and big teams like Al Nassr and Al Hilal always make their presence felt in the finals, and this is what will happen tomorrow.”

He continued: “We lost two matches out of the five matches we played against Al Hilal last season, and we won one and tied the other, and this indicates the strength of the two teams’ matches.”

He noted: “Football is always full of passion, and when you look at the 22 players on the field, you find that they have a passion for winning. The players are required to maintain their nerves, and sometimes you cannot control the player because he wants to win.”

Castro pointed out that Al Hilal has an advantage in that it gets a full day off compared to Al Nassr, saying: “Al Hilal has a full day off more than us in terms of recovery, and our players underwent recovery yesterday, and today they only have one training session before the match.”

Al-Nassr coach confirmed that his team will try to win the match in its favour in regular time without resorting to penalty kicks.

In his message to Al-Nassr fans, Luis Castro said: “They always support us and we live the final with them, and the thing that makes the coach happiest is seeing the club’s fans happy with the victories and championships, and this is always our first goal.”

While Jesus said in his statements at the press conference introducing the match: “Al Hilal is in another final against a strong competitor. Both teams have high-level players. We hope to appear in a beautiful way that reflects the development of Saudi football.”

He added: “The match will be broadcast on many channels in Europe and Brazil, and we will reflect a true picture of what Saudi football has achieved.”

Al Hilal coach continued: “Malcolm was in the recovery and rehabilitation phase, and he reached the stage where he will participate in the main training today, and his participation or not will become clear after today’s training.”

He added: “We are here to make the fans happy and put a smile on their faces. We made them happy last season in all the tournaments and we seek to continue this.”

In response to a question about Hamad Al-Yami’s participation instead of Saud Abdul Hamid in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final against Al-Ahli and whether that means the player is close to leaving, Jesus said: “Al-Yami is a distinguished player and gave a wonderful performance in the camp, and that has nothing to do with linking him to Saud’s departure.”

Right-back Saud Abdul Hamid is linked with a move from Al Hilal to Roma in the current summer transfer window.

Jesus concluded: “We have a large list of players, and we do not stop at a specific player, and this is what we work on daily.”
