Whenever a new generation of iPhone is announced, a real race once morest time begins for some consumers to secure one of the new models — and this race includes the need to, often, get rid of it (understand by sell) the current smartphone to enable future acquisition.
But this phenomenon is a two-way street, as many others take the opportunity to purchase recent devices for sale at a lower price than the market price. A OLXone of the largest platforms for buying and selling used products on the internet, measured how much demand for the line iPhone 14 increased as the iPhone 15 announcement approached.
Comparing data from the months of May and June with those from July and August this yearthe platform saw an increase in searches for all models of the generation of iPhones launched last year.
The biggest increases were from iPhone 14 (+56%) and the 14 Plus (+41%), but the 14 Pro (+32%) and the 14 Pro Max (+29%) completed the Top 4 search growth ranking:

In absolute numbers of searches, however, the iPhones 14 are far from the top. In August, the champion was iPhone 11 — a device launched in 2019 —, followed by the iPhone 12 (2nd) and by iPhone XR (3º). A 14 Pro Maxthe only one of its generation to appear in the Top 10appears in 8th place.

OLX also released the ranking of the best-selling iPhones last month, which is led by iPhone 12followed by 11 (2nd) and by XR (3rd). In this ranking, the 14 Pro Max it was also in 8th position — which indicates good consistency between the number of people looking for the device and those who actually make the purchase.

Another highlight in the most recent data released by the platform is the great growth in sales of the iPhone 13 mini — more specifically, 60% in July and August compared to May and June. In the general sales ranking, however, the device appears in the last positions, having been the 19th best-selling iPhone in August.
