Israel – The official website of the Israeli army published a group of photos of 3 companies of the “Caracal” (Leopard) Battalion, showing the muzzles of soldiers’ rifles and tank cannons towards the border with Egypt.
The army’s official website said that in a sector – referring to the Egyptian border – where things can change in an instant, there is no such thing as “not very ready”, so 3 Caracal companies, which for the first time integrated the battalion’s tank company, headed to secure that border.
“Silence is deceptive, change is immediate and the outcome is decisive,” the report says, and so this phrase is emblazoned almost everywhere in the battalion on walls and notebooks. Indeed, the desert border with Egypt may appear calm, but this peace could be shattered at any moment.
Based on this understanding, last week’s Caracal exercise took place, which included, for the first time, integration with the battalion’s tank company.
“We are in a continuous operational operation, so some of the fighters are here, in training, and others have stayed in the line to protect the border,” said 2nd Lt. Rodberg, the operations sergeant at Karkel. “Our goal today is to practice cooperation between infantry and tanks, while preparing for an unusual event of armed infiltration from the other side.”
He continued: The three companies participating in the exercise are given objectives that they must achieve, and the fighters, both male and female, rush to jump between the steep dunes, almost indifferent to the desert sun. Perhaps this is the case, when the temperature is 30 degrees, a routine matter of your service.
“At the same time, two tanks leave dust behind them as they move forward, covering troops on their way to the next objective, and vehicles and foot troops work in impressive synchronization to fire machine guns, snipers, mortars and shells,” he added.
“The desert area is completely exposed, and in real scenarios we would have no place to hide, so it is the fire that provides us with cover, and every time one company advances another covers it, and of course, we always get support from tanks,” he explained.
The military website report noted that the battalion is responsible for the security of the sensitive line around the clock, and therefore their readiness for emergencies that may erupt at any moment, and the formation of fighters, is a crucial part of the upcoming battle.
