On the e-katanalotis platform, natural gas and electricity tariffs

From today, Friday, April 21, the government initiative is implemented “Basket of Energy”, according to which the invoices of natural gas and electricity providers will be posted on electronic platform e- katanalotis.

As noted in an announcement by the Ministry of Development and Investments, according to the data so far, in the months of March – April there was an average decrease of 7%, including state subsidies from the Energy Transition Fund.

The Minister of Development and InvestmentsAdonis Georgiadis stated:

“The presentation of the “Energy Basket” has started on e-Consumer. In particular, we have put up a comparative table of the prices of electricity providers for household tariffs for the months of March-April, where very serious reductions in electricity prices per company are recorded and you can also see the companies in comparison with each other.

For the prices of the month of May, where there seems to be a stabilization and also a slight reduction in prices, we will have the final announcement after the state subsidy decided by the Ministry of Environment and Energy”.

Deputy Minister Nikos Papathanasis emphasized: “The e-Consumer application is the only government application in Europe, with which we can receive real-time data from all the elements that supermarkets have. Now consumers will be able to find the tariffs that the electricity providers have – more than 16 companies and more than 43 contracts will be able to compare monthly and choose the best offer. In this way competition develops and of course, each and every one will be able to change providers, choosing the cheapest price without any additional costs”.

**Interview with Minister Adonis Georgiadis on the “Basket of Energy” Initiative**

**Interviewer:** Minister Georgiadis, can you⁣ tell us⁤ more about the impact ⁢of the “Basket of Energy” initiative on consumers in Greece?

**Adonis Georgiadis:** Absolutely. The “Basket of Energy” is‌ designed⁤ to enhance transparency in energy pricing. With the launch of the⁢ e-katanalotis platform, consumers can now easily‍ compare electricity and ‍natural gas tariffs‌ across various providers. We’ve already seen an average ‍price decrease of 7% in March and April, which is promising.

**Interviewer:** That’s encouraging news. How ‌exactly does the e-Consumer application work and what are its benefits for the average⁣ consumer?

**Adonis Georgiadis:** The e-Consumer application is unique in Europe, providing⁣ real-time data from ⁢over ⁣16 electricity providers and more than 43 contracts. Consumers can compare prices and make ⁣informed⁣ choices, ‍increasing competition among providers. This should ultimately lead to better deals ⁢for consumers.

**Interviewer:** It sounds like a step in the right direction! However, do ⁢you ⁣think consumers will be able to fully trust these providers and the platform?

**Adonis Georgiadis:** Trust⁢ takes time,‌ but⁤ the transparency ⁤we are introducing is crucial. Consumers can‍ see pricing ⁤comparisons without buried fees⁣ or hidden ⁤costs. This empowerment should build trust over time as‍ users recognize the benefits of competition.

**Interviewer:** Given the importance of price ⁣in⁣ choosing an ‍energy provider, what do you ‍think ‌will ‌drive the most debate among consumers regarding the ⁣prices they see on the platform?

**Adonis Georgiadis:** I believe the main debate will revolve around whether ⁣the price reductions are sustainable and ⁣whether the state subsidies are enough to‍ keep prices down in the ⁤long term. Consumers may also question how frequently these tariffs change and how they can adapt.

**Interviewer:** Definitely a valid point for discussion. What are ⁢your hopes moving forward with regards⁣ to⁣ consumer engagement in this new system?

**Adonis⁢ Georgiadis:** My hope is ⁣that consumers use the e-katanalotis platform⁤ optimally, actively ⁢engaging in their energy choices. The more they compare and switch providers based⁢ on what they see, the better the market will ‌respond to⁤ consumer needs.

**Interviewer:** Thank you for your insights, Minister ‍Georgiadis. ‍

Now, readers, what do you think about the‌ efficiency and reliability of the “Basket of⁢ Energy”? Will it truly empower consumers to⁤ make better choices, or are there potential pitfalls that could undermine⁤ this⁢ initiative?
