On the Day of the Poor, Caritas launches the candles for donation initiative

Candles of the “Kindness unites us” campaign are held for the 26th time throughout Lithuania on November 19, the Day of the Poor, and are traditionally celebrated in cathedrals and churches. On this day, we also pray for all the needy: the lonely, the sick, the abandoned, people on the fringes of society.

The traditional Carito initiative will last until Christmas. Collected donations will serve families experiencing difficulties, sick people, lonely people, elderly people, and people who have been affected by disasters.

It will be possible to donate and receive a “Kindness unites us” candle as a gift in churches, parishes, Caritas centers, and during Advent – also in shopping centers.

According to the organization, each candle is cast by the hands of people experiencing life’s trials. In the “Carito” candle workshop of the Vilnius Archdiocese, the people who pour them strengthen communication in a team, time, work planning and social skills so that they can more easily integrate into the labor market.

According to Karolina Juchnevič-Sosnitska, the head of the candle workshop, thanks to the donations received by donating “Kindness unites us” candles, “Caritas” keeps jobs for the most vulnerable.
