On the 1st (local time), the 402nd day of the war in Ukraine, Russian forces launched airstrikes throughout Ukraine, resulting in civilian casualties, including a 5-month-old baby. Apartments and school buildings were also bombed by Russian forces.

According to foreign media such as CNN and The Guardian, at least two civilians have been killed by Russian artillery fire in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine in the past 24 hours, a local official said in a post posted on Telegram on the 1st.

Among the civilians killed was a five-month-old baby who was killed in the village of Avdyvka by Russian artillery fire between the night of the 31st and the morning of the 1st, Donetsk Governor Pablo Kirilenko said.

Governor Kirilenko also said that one civilian was injured in Druzkivka. Russian artillery fire damaged two apartment buildings, a school and a bank. He added that the enemy also came under attack in the Brilledar and Novoukrainka areas.



Local news outlet Kiuu Independent reported that at least five people, including babies, had been killed in Ukraine in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu promised to increase the supply of munitions to his troops in Ukraine while visiting the headquarters of the Moscow army fighting in Ukraine.

US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley said Ukraine was unlikely to expel all Russian troops from its territory this year, the Kieu Independent reported, citing an interview with Defense One. Regarding the timing of the end of the war, Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said, “It is unlikely that this year will be short-lived.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on the same day for regarding an hour, discussing measures to implement Ukraine’s peace plan and cooperation in the defense sector.

In November 2022, President Zelensky presented Ukraine’s 10 peace formulas to world leaders at the G20 summit held in Bali, Indonesia. These measures included nuclear safety, food security, the establishment of a special tribunal to investigate alleged war crimes by Russia, and a final peace treaty with Russia. He also urged the G20 leaders to “impose a price cap on energy imported from Russia in order to force Russia to abandon its nuclear threat.”
