The Sixth Guarantee Court of Santiago decided to extend the detention of the three accused for the crime of Carabineros lieutenant Emmanuel Sánchez, which occurred on Wednesday night in the commune of Quinta Normal.
Thus, the three men will be formalized on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. to give the Public Ministry time to continue with the investigation, which, in addition, still has one person at large, according to Radio Cooperativa.
The detainees are Josué Ramírez, Wuilberth Olivares and Yolvi González, all of Venezuelan nationality, who will be formalized for the crime of homicide of a police officer in the performance of their duties.
Lieutenant Sánchez, from the Specialties School, died this Wednesday night after an exchange of gunfire with a group of criminals, in the area of San Pablo Avenue and Radal Street, a fact that also left one of the deceased assailants, Julio César González.
The uniformed man was on duty and was with his wife and son in his private vehicle.
After the hearing, prosecutor Felipe Olivarí explained that “we will reveal the details of the investigative proceedings on Sunday at the formalization hearing.”
“The arrest was declared legal by the court and on Sunday we are going to proceed to formalize it and we are going to proceed to attribute participation and request the precautionary measure that we understand will be the corresponding one,” stated the pursuer, who revealed that “at this point we have enough evidence that allowed us to arrest these people with an arrest warrant and two others for flagrante delicto.”
In the middle of the wake of the uniformed man, the general director of the Carabineros, Ricardo Yáñez expressed that “I fell short when I talked about scourges. “You witnessed today that these infamous people left the barracks laughing, mocking you, the media, but ultimately mocking the country.”
