An important musical meeting of two excellent Byzantine choirs will have the opportunity to enjoy the music-loving public of our city, next Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the new I. N. Ag. Andreou Patron, with the participation of the “Psaltic Workshop” and the “Theodoros Fokaevs” choir.
The event organized by the I.M. of Patrons and the cultural group of Fokaios, under the auspices of the Hellenic Choirs House and will take place at 7:00 p.m., is entitled “Bless the Lord in all times” and is dedicated to the period of Triodi and M. Tessarakosti.
The two choirs, which are considered to be the best of their kind in Greece, will perform, each separately in their own special way, well-known, topical, engrossing hymns. The program of the Ecclesiastical-Byzantine music concert will be opened by the guest Byzantine dance of the “Psaltic Workshop” and will be completed by the choir of the Apostolic city of Patras “Theodoros Fokaevs”, under the direction of its choir master, Musicologist Protopsaltos of I. N. Ag . Sophia of Patrons Mr. Charalambous Theotokatos.
The presentation of the event has been undertaken by the president of the Byzantine-Traditional Choir “Theodoros Fokaevs”, Mr. Georgios Vergos, while the concert will be graced with his presence and blessed by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Patras, Mr. Chrysostomos, who will close the musical evening with his topical speech.
The Chanting Workshop was founded in 1998 and is based in Athens. His musical origins come directly from the source of Constantinople, from the Lord Cantor of the Great Church of Christ, of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Thrasyvoulos Stanitsa, whose student was the choir master Athanasios Paivanas for a number of years. All the musical activities of the Psalter Workshop – from its foundation until today – have as their main axis the Psalter Tradition of Constantinople.
Prominent personalities have written very flattering comments regarding the Chanting Workshop. As an example, we mention the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew, the Patriarch of Alexandria Theodoros, the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Mr. Hieronymos, the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Fr. Seraphim Farasoglou, the Lord Music Teacher of the Great Church of Christ Mr. Demosthenes Paikopoulos, a multitude of Metropolitans of the Church of Greece, Holy Monasteries of Mount Athos, the Brotherhood of Daniel, professors of international Conservatories, conductors, soloists etc. The Singing Workshop has held numerous concerts in Greece and abroad and released a series of digital discs.
