On Lake Geneva with Vahé Vartzbed from HYT

WorldTempus speaks with Vahe Vartzbed, CEO of HYT, about his direction for the independent watch brand.

Vahe Vartzbed joined HYT in August 2023. After more than a year at the helm of this small independent brand, he discusses his future plans for the brand with WorldTempus. On his wrist, he wears a watch from the newly launched T1 Millésimée capsule collection, revealed at Geneva Watch Days.

Encased in a 45mm titanium case – the smallest ever crafted by the brand – this watch showcases a striking purple dial, which Vartzbed has combined with a white strap for our nautical outings on the lake! With a vertically brushed dial, elegant numerals, and a faceted hour hand, this model is arguably the most understated watch produced by HYT to date. Nevertheless, the playful aspect remains prominent, featuring the renowned fluidic display that indicates the minutes in a glass capillary tube.

The capsule collection comprises three models: a titanium variant with a purple or green dial and a red gold and titanium model with a chocolate dial. Named T1 Millésimée, the ‘T’ stands for “Tradition,” while “Millésimée” refers to the designation indicating the year of production of an exceptional wine. Just as the production of these wines is seasonally limited, the release of HYT’s capsule collections will also be time-restricted, occurring on specific dates rather than in quantity. With a vertical brushed dial, elegant numerals, and a faceted hour hand, this watch is arguably the most understated watch produced by HYT to date. However, the playful side is still very present, with the famous fluidic display indicating the minutes in a glass capillary tube.
