The total solar eclipse on April 8 is the most important astronomical event of 2024, which will not happen once more for another 20 years.
The phenomenon will start in the Pacific, cross Mexico and then cross Texas on a northeasterly course through 15 states before heading over Canada and the North Atlantic.
Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Michigan and Tennessee are the 15 American states that lie on this imaginary arc.
