OMV Petrom and Lukoil surprisingly made diesel cheaper, only one day before the ban on fuel imports from Russia

The leader of the fuel distribution market, OMV Petrom, surprisingly reduced the price of diesel by 5 bani/l on Saturday, only one day before the EU embargo on the import of Russian petroleum products came into force, following in the previous days it had reduced the price of petrol by one ban/l, and that of diesel, with 2 ban/l. Lukoil also reduced the price of diesel fuel by 3 bani/l on Saturday, according to data analyzed by Profit.ro, quoted by news.ro.

In the last 10 days, diesel became cheaper by 12 bani/l, and gasoline by 4 bani/l in OMV and Petrom stations, following in the previous 2 weeks they had risen in price by 24 and 29 bani/l, respectively.

Following Saturday’s reductions, the price of standard diesel at Petrom stations, of 7.57-7.60 lei/l, is 2 pennies lower than that at competing Lukoil stations.

Also, the standard diesel sold in the premium OMV stations at a price of 7.65-7.70 lei/l is 6 pennies cheaper than in the competing stations of MOL and Rompetrol, which will probably, in their turn, carry out price reductions in the following hours, comments Profit.ro.
