OMV equips gas station roofs with photovoltaic systems

OMV equips the roofs of its filling stations with photovoltaic systems. So far, solar modules have been installed at 95 gas stations in Austria, and by the end of the year there should be 155 “solar gas stations”, the energy company announced on Thursday.

With the electricity produced in this way, the filling stations cover a large proportion of their electricity requirements themselves. OMV is investing around EUR 7 million in the expansion of PV in Austria. OMV operates 219 filling stations in Germany and 2,100 throughout Europe. Gas stations in Slovakia, Hungary and Romania are also to produce electricity from solar energy in the future.
