OMV Diri Expands to Latin America: Impact, Services, and Growth Plans

As Gestión announced, at the end of January the expansion in Latin America of the OMV Diri was announced with the purchase of Flash Mobile Latam. What impacts will this have? As part of the actions that Flash-Diri, the name of the joint firm, will carry out, the goal is to enhance the brand, improving plans, user experience and customer service in countries like Peru.

Another objective is the launch of a new brand that will incorporate new services for the markets of Mexico, Colombia and Peru. The vice president of the firm, Guillermo Tajonar, explained that this will be “aimed at young audiences.” In Peru, the new commercial proposal will be made public between the third and fourth quarter of this year, which will be focused on offering prepaid services and, towards 2025, internet services will be added; mobile apps; among others.

To provide an ideal service, which allows you to add more mobile lines, a basic point is to have access to a spectrum with greater presence at the national level and with fewer incidents. It should be remembered that an OMV does not have its own network so it has to rent it from a third party. In the case of Flash, since the beginning of operations in Peru, its supplier is Telefónica.

Thus, despite having a network, the executive recalled that, although some cities have “excellent service,” the same does not occur on the outskirts of the main regions. “We have intermittency problems which have not allowed us to grow,” he argued. Given this, they are looking for a new mobile operator that can provide them with a network with better coverage, for which they are in talks with several operators.

Independent distributors

Flash Mobile is part of the global direct sales company ACN (All Communications Network), with 31 years of experience in marketing various services. Tajonar indicated that, to begin operations in Latin America, he developed a Latin company called Flash, which sells products in Mexico, Colombia and Peru. “Among which is the prepaid cell phone service, which arrived in Peru in 2019,” he commented.

In the national territory it began to operate in the middle of the pandemic, reaching 40,000 customers with the prepaid service. According to Osiptel, to date it has 58 active lines.

Being a global direct sales company, it works with independent distributors, who are the ones who generate sales of the services they offer. Thus, the goal for this year is to reach 10,000 distributors, in addition to providing services to 50,000 clients in Inca lands. “We are looking for pioneers for the relaunch of the Peruvian market,” said the regional vice president for Latin America of Flash-Diri, Juan Carlos Brambila.
