“Enough with the cabaret every day”, politics must return to dealing with concrete things, otherwise the risk “is that the country goes belly up”. For this reason, Carlo Calenda turns to the other opposition leaders and says he is ready to work on an alliance as long as it is focused on “a government agenda, on concrete issues and things”, and not a ‘broad field’ put together only “against” the center-right. A guest on Omnibus on La7, the leader of Azione comments on the negative trend of the world stock markets and does not say he is surprised: “The US has reached the end of the road, Germany is completely stopped, France is unstable and there are two wars. It is normal that the system is affected and a crisis has begun, with the risk that the financial system will collapse. It is a very dangerous situation”, therefore “enough talking about idiocies. We talked for 4 days about a boxing match, about Mollicone, then about the government that ordered the Bologna massacre… It’s crazy, politics now only talks about things that are news, now the debate is cabaret”.

Calenda is blunt: «I don’t care about the broad field, these are arguments that remain on an abstract level. I have to work together with the opposition, that’s why I said to Elly Schlein and the others ‘what do we do about healthcare, wages and more’? Can the country survive this? I don’t think so. I have no intention or desire to remain alone, but we need to build a government agenda, let’s put together a government agenda and I address the opposition but also a part of the majority that is in difficulty. I invite the opposition, let’s do something concrete together, like on healthcare. Calenda finally expressed his opinion on possible alliances with the center-left in view of the upcoming regional elections in Emilia and Liguria: «In Emilia Romagna there is the possibility of making a good alliance, fine, but with the aim of governing.
