Omicron: which part of the body does the variant strike first?

the essential
According to a Norwegian study, confirmed by an American study, the nasal passages are not the first entry route for the virus with the Omicron variant.

In just a few weeks, the Omicron variant has spread at an unprecedented speed throughout the world, to the point of becoming the majority in contaminations. These most common symptoms are asthenia (fatigue), cough, fever, headache (headache) and myalgia (muscle pain).

72% of participants suffered from a sore throat

Another very often reported symptom is sore throat. Gold, according to a Norwegian study, cited by our colleagues from L’Indépendant, 72% of participants affected by Omicron suffered from sore throats. A finding that would have put scientists on a new track: the Omicron variant would first attack the throat, before attacking the nasal passages.

A lead that would have been confirmed by a second study, American this time. According to American researchers, with Omicron, the virus would be detectable in saliva two days before finding it in the nose.
