[인사이드비나=호치민, 투 탄(Thu thanh) 기자] Ho Chi Minh City has instructed authorities at all levels to review the issue of implementing preventive measures as the number of corona19 infections surged across the country this month.

Duong Anh Duc, vice chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, recently sent a letter to organizations at all levels, saying, “This month, the number of confirmed cases is small, but it is increasing, and we have confirmed the highly contagious Omicron variant XBB.1.5.” Authorities must strengthen measures to implement various preventive measures, such as monitoring, to prevent the spread of the epidemic,” he said.

The city’s preventive measures include ▲additional vaccination for high-risk groups ▲constant storage of COVID-19-related medicines and equipment ▲mandatory masks when using hospitals, government offices, group events and public transportation ▲in particular, schools are designated as high-risk areas to strengthen management.

The number of infected people in Ho Chi Minh City, which was around 1-2 people per day in early March, is now 3-4 people in the first week of this month and 7-8 people in the second week.

Meanwhile, according to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), the number of people infected with Corona 19 last week was 493, a seven-fold increase from the previous week. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 756 so far this year.

According to the Ministry of Health, the number of confirmed cases nationwide last week was 2,653, with a daily average of 380. In particular, as the number of new confirmed cases exceeded 700 per day for the last three days in a row, the authorities are strengthening monitoring.
