Omani Health warns of an Egyptian mosquito spreading at this time

The Omani Ministry of Health issued an important warning regarding the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is active during the daytime and leads to the transmission of many diseases, through its official account on the social networking site “Instagram”. The Aedes aegypti mosquito reproduces through the female laying her eggs in Stagnant water, which causes yellow fever, Zika disease, and dengue fever, and the symptoms of these viral diseases are severe headache, high body temperature, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, skin rash, nausea, and loss of appetite.

A healthy mosquito acquires the virus when it feeds on the blood of an infected person, and then spreads the virus when it moves to feed on the blood of a healthy person, and the infected person may transmit the virus to others through the mosquito for a period ranging from 4 to 5 days, and it may reach 7 days since the emergence of infection And the Ministry of Health in Oman, through its own account on “Instagram”, stressed the importance of dealing with mosquitoes in a proper manner in order to limit their reproduction.

How to prevent Aedes aegypti

With regard to ways to prevent the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the Omani Health provided a series of advice, including:

  • Empty and clean the water storage containers every 5 days with a brush.
  • Cover the water tanks in a tight manner.
  • Dispose of the collected water.
  • Don’t forget the importance of adhering to personal precautions.
  • Wear clothes that cover the entire body.
  • Use ointments to treat mosquito bites (following product instructions).
  • The need to cover windows.
  • Spraying household insecticides (with no direct exposure to them).
