Muscat: Officials of the Ministry of Labor will now conduct inspections to detect illegal workers in Oman. Inspection of workers and workplaces will begin from January 1 under the responsibility of Ministry of Labor staff.
Nasser Bin Salem Al Hadrami, Director of Labor in Dhofar Governorate, said that in Oman, no one but the Ministry of Labor officials can conduct inspections. He said that the inspection was aimed at eliminating illegal workers from the labor market and controlling the labor market. The safety and security establishment is only to assist in the inspection procedures.
The Labor Ministry had reached an agreement with the Security and Safety Corporation months ago to track down labor law violators and illegal traders. There was a campaign that using this system, the Safety and Security Establishment staff would enter the institutions and conduct inspections.
