OM: Di Meco defends Milik

Ineffective once morest Olympique Lyonnais (0-3) on Sunday in Ligue 1, Olympique de Marseille striker Arkadiusz Milik (28 years old, 22 games and 7 goals in L1 this season) raises some doubts regarding this final sprint. But for his part, RMC radio consultant Eric Di Meco came to the defense of the Polish international.

“I do not understand this debate. We know it well, at OM in recent years, we have had catastrophic attackers. And when this boy arrives from Naples with injuries, we say to ourselves that it is a miracle to recover. But you also have to say to yourself that Marseille recovers him thanks to his injuries. And when we have him at home, we treat him badly. A goalscorer needs to play, it’s a mental position. The guy, he’s holder 23 times in the season, he scored 20 goals in all competitions. In the European Cup, he played 6 games for 8 goals. (…) In a game where you have to win at home to go to the final, we explains to me that he must stay on the bench, we are geniuses”, lambasted the ex-Marseillais.

It remains to know the intentions of the Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli with Milik for the semi-final return of the Europa League Conference once morest Feyenoord Thursday following the defeat conceded (2-3) in the first leg.
