Things will get exciting with Austrian discus ace Lukas Weißhaidinger on Wednesday evening from 8:25 pm. Innviertler was one of the most popular precious metals at the Paris Olympics.

By the second of six throws, the Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist reached the top: 67.54 meters meant fourth. His previous starting time was 60.02 meters. World record holder Mykolas Alekna (LIT/69.97) leads Australians Matthew Denny (69.31m) and Kristjan Ceh (SLO/68.41m) after the second round.

The 32-year-old showed no sign of weakness in Monday’s qualifying round, sealing his spot in the final with his first goal. Weiss Heidinger has proven he is a force to be reckoned with by winning a silver medal at the European Championships in June.

Weihaidinger reached the Olympic final for the third time. In 2021, he won a bronze medal in Tokyo. Since then he seems to have lost touch with his absolute peak. Technological changes he developed with coaches went into effect quickly this year. He now focuses more on dynamics than strength.
