A new heat wave is expected to hit Italy

“The Holy See expresses its regret for certain scenes of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games and cannot but join its voice with those who have been raised, in the past days, to condemn the insult against many Christians and believers of other religions. In a prestigious event where the whole planet is united around shared values, there should be no insinuations that ridicule the religious beliefs of many people. Freedom of expression, which is certainly not in question, meets its limits in respect for others.”

In Italy, many commentators point out, however, that the Holy See chose to address the whole matter several days after the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics and without the direct intervention of Pope Francis.
