Canadian Ryan Wedding (43), a former Olympic snowboarder, has made a very striking career change. He is wanted by the FBI for running a drug trafficking network that transported large quantities of cocaine across North and South America and killed four people.
During the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Ryan Wedding was another promising snowboarder. He finished 24th in the parallel giant slalom. He is now one of the most wanted drug leaders in Canada and the United States. With his drug organization ‘The Wedding Criminal Enterprise’ he would stop at nothing, reports the American newspaper LA Times. He is said to have been active as leader of the criminal organization since 2011.
At a news conference, U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada said Wedding chose to become a major drug trafficker and murderer. “He is accused of leading a transnational organized crime group engaged in cocaine trafficking and murder, including of innocent civilians.”
Innocent people murdered
The Canadian is said to have ordered the murder of an Indian couple visiting Canada in November last year. Wedding and his partner Andrew Clark, who has since been arrested, suspected that this couple had stolen a cocaine shipment. They were shot in front of their daughter, the daughter was also hit but survived the attack. Later it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.
Two other men with drug debts were murdered in the driveway of their home. “They were murderers. They dealt with violence, including murder, to anyone who stood in their way,” Estrada said. The duo hired hitmen and hunted down people they felt were getting in the way of their business.
Wedding has adopted several aliases, he is also called ‘El Jefe’ and ‘Public Enemy’. According to federal prosecutors, this is a billion-dollar company. During one of their investigations, a ton of cocaine, dozens of rounds of ammunition and more than $3 million in cryptos were seized.
The major drug criminal is still wanted by the authorities. It’s not the first time he’s been wanted. He was also sentenced to prison in 2010. After his release, according to authorities, he simply moved on. De FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for tips leading to his arrest.
