The Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has been in France since yesterday, where he had the opportunity to closely watch the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, while today, July 27, he experienced up close the effort of Lefteris Petrounias in the preliminaries of the hoops.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency (APE-MPE) about his experience at the opening ceremony of the Games, Lefteris Petrounias and of course sent a message to all the athletes.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the opening ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games is a benchmark and emphasized how excited he is to see Greek athletes striving for the best.

“It was definitely something very impressive. Some things aesthetically we might not like, but it was a very good effort. We may be a bit biased but the 2004 opening ceremony is a benchmark for us. Maybe it was better designed for television than for viewers.”
Q: Did you see Lefteris Petrounias’ match today? What is your opinion;
“Lefteris Petrounias is always a very impressive athlete. When you see the athlete live, you understand how difficult this sport is.”
Q: What do the Olympics mean to you? We know you’re a sports fan.
“I hadn’t been to the Olympic Games since 2004. For us Greeks, the Olympic Games have a special meaning. I’m very excited and very happy as a sports fan to see our athletes strive for the best.”
Q: You have shown that you “invest” in sports and this year is a very good year for Greece…
“This year has been a very good sporting year so far. The most important thing is to lay the foundations and the right infrastructure to be able to stand out in many different sports and above all to enable young children to find the sport that interests them the most. Cooperation with the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the federations must always be very close.”
