Olympiad | Garnbretová confirmed her position as the queen of sport climbing with another gold in Paris

Garnbretová won the morning part on the boulders and, together with Raboutouová, who was separated from the Slovenian defender by only four tenths of a point after the first half of the competition, significantly outstripped the remaining six competitors. Both kept their positions with the rope after that. Garnbretová won with a total lead of 12.5 points. She added the second Olympic gold to the eight titles of the world champion.

At the last boulder, however, she went numb. The finger of her left hand hurt a lot. “I was worried if it wasn’t something more serious, but the adrenaline worked and I was climbing with ease again when it was difficult,” she said.

“I cried after bouldering. Fortunately, I concentrated again and said to myself: you have to give it everything, because the next Olympics will be in four years. It doesn’t matter if you lose a finger, an arm or a leg,” added the champion.

The top men shared the medals at the Le Bourget climbing center in the Olympic combined on Friday, with Adam Ondra taking sixth place in Britain’s Toby Roberts’ triumph. After the unsuccessful boulders, he managed the difficulty perfectly, but he could not catch up to the best.
