OLX Autos, the Dutch multinational for buying and selling used cars, announced on Tuesday the closure of its subsidiary in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico.
As reported by Motor1.com, an Argentine media specialized in the industry, the company communicated the decision in an internal message to its employees, to which the portal had access.
DFSUD.com confirmed that the decision would cover the other two Latin American markets and that Chile would be the only one in the region to remain active.
To this, it adds a presence in the United States, India, Indonesia, Nigeria and Pakistan, with which it managed to sell around 100,000 cars in 2021. then, and before the cuts started in 2022, it had more than 4.6 million workers on three continents.
This last step occurs less than a year following the episode in Peru and Ecuador, where it also had to close operations, disconnecting all local collaborators.
At that moment, OLX attributed the impact of the global crisis and the war between Russia and Ukraine, which “put pressure on our markets in Latin America.”
Then, he announced that he was going to reduce the payroll in Chile, Colombia and Argentina by 20% with the aim of “resizing the company”.
At the moment, the number of jobs that would be lost with this measure is unknown.
The company had been operating in Argentina since 2018 and despite being a completely online portal, it had commercial offices in the cities of Buenos Aires, Salta, Bahía Blanca, Mendoza and Córdoba.
