Oligui Nguema puts into service the Libreville Airport bypass –

The Head of State, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, inaugurated the Libreville Airport bypass on August 29, 2024. Accompanied by the Prime Minister, Raymond Ndong Sima and some members of the government, he was welcomed by the Director General of GSEZ Airport, Mr. Igor Simard, who presented him with the technical sheet and the characteristics of this infrastructure, not without presenting its socio-economic benefits.

The Libreville Airport bypass is a road infrastructure of approximately 6 kilometers, of 2X2 and 2X3 lanes built by the company AFCONS. Its construction is the result of the government’s desire to relieve congestion in the northern area of the capital, Libreville.

On this occasion, the Head of State recalled the strategic role of infrastructure, such as this bypass for the development of the country. According to government data, it constitutes a real relief for the 92,116 inhabitants of the commune of AKANDA. This is because it will facilitate their daily travel. In addition, it will promote the residential attractiveness of this part of Greater Libreville, potentially triggering balanced urban growth and offering new opportunities. “In other words, this infrastructure becomes a key development engine for local development.”

The Minister of Public Works, General Flavien Nzengui Nzondou, for his part, highlighted the pragmatism of the government under the leadership of the Head of State. “Everything has been done by the President of the Republic to speed up the work. So that today, we are able to open this road for the benefit of the populations. However, some work remains to be done to make it more beautiful.” This inauguration ceremony was also marked by a brief spiritual interlude, led by Monsignor Ruffin Ngoubou, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Libreville and parish priest of Saint-André. An opportunity for him to launch an invitation to awareness. Contrary to what people say that the road kills, in reality the road does not kill. It is the users and drivers who, through their carelessness, are the cause of accidents that bring mourning to families. This is why we have blessed this road so that the Lord can watch over all the people who will use it. This is so that we can be spared from dramatic situations.
