Yesterday, Thursday, the activities of the 8th session of the “Aswan International Women’s Film Festival” ended, which took place with the participation of 36 countries which presented 76 films.

This year, the festival dedicated a special section to Tunisian short films, which included 5 films: “Shaytaana”, “Nidal Qiqa”, “Brothers”, “Raneem” and “Mish Maarouf”. In its new session, the festival also celebrated Palestinian cinema by screening 6 Palestinian films that express the reality of Palestinian women, in addition to a special program for Sudanese cinema and a children’s cinema program.

The festival administration said that the feature film jury awarded the Asia Dagher Prize for best film to “Daughters of Olfa” by director Kawthar Ben Haniyeh.

As for the prize for best direction, it was awarded to director Sarah Somma for the German film “Artur et Diana”, while the prize for best screenplay was awarded to director and screenwriter Kawthar Ben Hania for the film “Les Filles”. d’Olfa”, as well as the prize for best production. Interpretation Prize awarded to Bianca Delbravo, Delphine Asaad and Saphira Mosberg, the heroines of the film “Heaven Is Burning”. As for the Egyptian film “The Letters of Cheikh Daraz”, written and directed by Maggie Morgan, it won the Jury Prize.

Among the films also awarded were the Egyptian film “Journey 404” by director Hani Khalifa, as well as the film “Maqsoum”, which won a special award for the best Egyptian film helping to promote Egyptian tourism and revealing the beauty of the country. the tourist and archaeological sites of the country.

Then the European Union Prize, awarded equally to the Egyptian film “The Letters of Cheikh Daraz” and to the film “The Daughters of Olfa”.

The Athar Films jury awarded the best film prize to the film “I Told You” by Malak Al Sayyad. The jury prize was also won for the film “Nour Ainy” by director Muhannad Diab, while the jury awarded the best idea prize to the film “Internal Day” by director Rafik Joseph.

This year, the festival administration honored artists Hend Sabry and Ghada Adel, Finnish Alma Puesti, editor-in-chief Kahneh Attia from Tunisia, Ghada Abu Zeid, vice-governor of Aswan and Mona El Sabban from Egypt.
