Ruslan Rotan’s wards lost 0:2, but won a strong-willed victory in a highly productive match.

“Alexandria” won “Miner” in a home match of the 4th round of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) of the 2024/25 season. The match at the “Nika” stadium ended with a score of 4:3.
The match started with two goals from Donetsk. In the 16th minute, the home defender Artem Shabanov cut the ball into his own goal, and in the 25th minute, Dmytro Kryskiv scored for the “miners”.
However, even before the break, Ruslan Rotan’s wards managed to win back. Oleksandr Filippov reduced the score in the 37th minute, and four minutes later Ivan Kalyuzhny restored parity in the match.
At the start of the second half, the Alexandrians shocked the reigning champion of Ukraine with two more goals. In the 48th minute, Filippov converted a penalty, and then in the 57th minute, he scored from the game and completed his hat-trick.
Marino Pushych’s wards could only respond in stoppage time – Pedrinho scored in the 90th + 5th minute. But this was not enough to avoid defeat.
Review of the match “Alexandria” – “Shakhtar”
Thanks to this victory, “Alexandria” became the sole leader of the Ukrainian Premier League with 9 points. The Rotany team won three out of three matches in the Uraina championship this season.
“Shakhtar” suffered its second defeat in the current UPL campaign, in the 2nd round against the Donetsk club lost Zhytomyr “Polyssy”. With 6 points after four matches, “miners” are currently in second place.
In the 5th round of UPL, “Olexandria” will host “Kolos” on August 31, and “Shakhtar” will meet “Kryvbas” away on September 1.
