Ole: It’s a fantastic feeling, really. I’ve always said that I want my teams to play football the right way, and to see that happening so early on is incredibly satisfying. The players were brilliant, and the fans… well, they created an atmosphere that was truly electric.
Archyde: It must be especially pleasing given that you’ve only had a few days to prepare. How have you found the response to your methods from the players?
Ole: the response has been excellent.I’ve been impressed with their attitude and willingness to learn. We’ve got a great group of players here, and I’m really looking forward to working with them and helping them improve.
Archyde: Rashica’s brace, Silva’s creativity, Mario’s composure – your players seemed to click instantly. How much of that is down to your influence?
Ole: well,I think it’s a combination of things. I’ve come in with a set of principles and a way of playing that I believe in, and the players have been quick to buy into that. but they’re also an excellent group of professionals who know their own game inside out. it’s been a case of balancing my input with their understanding of their own abilities.
Archyde: Jonas Svensson was especially extraordinary, neutralizing Nico Williams almost singlehandedly. He seems to have taken your advice on board…
Ole: (Laughs) Indeed, he has. I told him to be confident, to trust his abilities. He’s a fantastic player, and I think we’ll see even more from him as we continue to work together.

Ole: We’re working hard on the training pitch, making sure everyone understands their role and the importance of their contribution to the team. I believe that when you create an surroundings where everyone feels valued and understands their importance, that’s when you get the best out of them.
